Singapore comes out tops in Asia Pacific for talent competitiveness |

Singapore came in second after Switzerland in the Global Talent Competitive Index (GTCI) which ranked more than 100 countries according to their ability to develop, attract and retain talent.
The city state came in the top place in Asia Pacific for the third year in a row. Australia was the other Asia Pacific country in the top 10.
GTCI, published by INSEAD, assesses the country’s capability to enable, grow and retain talent as well as develop global knowledge and vocational and technical skills. The Singapore government is constantly focusing on building a high-tech hub, to help small businesses adopt new technologies and support workers to learn new skills.
Wong Su-Yen, CEO of the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) points out that in order to remain competitive in the region, Singapore must ensure a good underlying infrastructure in terms of educating and facilitating people. Moreover, both lifestyle and sustainability are important factors too.

Singapore becomes a less expensive location for expats |

|
Falling out of ranking may not be a bad thing. Singapore is ranked 24th most expensive country for expatriates globally, coming down from 18th in 2016.
Lee Quane, Regional Director of ECA International, said that "Although prices in general have risen in Singapore, depreciation of the Singapore dollar against other currencies makes that the cost of living is still relatively low compared to other parts of the world."
Malaysia drops 15 places to the 212th globally, falling out of the top 200 ranking. This is also due to continued weakening of the Malaysian Ringgit.
Hong Kong on the other hand became the top most expensive country for expatriates in the region and ranks number two globally.
