Good News for SMEs & startups in Thailand!

The number of startup companies has jumped from 300 in 2014 to over 2,500 in 2015 as reported by Bangkok post. The Commerce Ministry of Thailand will invest 96 million baht in 2017 to support the startups development for raising Thai brand awareness. "The Commerce Ministry is introducing MOC 4i: Thai Brand Heroes Programme, aimed at showing and promoting Thai SMEs and startups to become smart enterprises, which embrace new business models that combine innovation, creativity and technology," Mrs Apiradi said. "The programme will be jointly handled by the Business Development Department, the International Trade Promotion Department and the Intellectual Property Department." This programme will support more than 2000 SME’s and startups, focus on food and agriculture, health and wellness, hospitality, and services and lifestyle. Mrs Apiradi claimed Commerce Ministry was committing to proactively strengthening Thailand’s local economy. Therefore, promoting connectivity between farmers and markets and farm technology will be one of the main development projects, other trade in services like health & beauty, digital content, construction, logistics and franchise as well as SMEs and startups are also in their 20-year plan.
